West Hollywood Prop 8 Rally Remembers Those Who Made 2013 Supreme Court Decision Possible

This week, Bigelow will mark one year since his longtime partner died. He fought back tears talking about the loss. “My partner of 32 years died a year ago this Friday,” Bigelow said. “This was our dream and he never got to see it.” Bigelow was at the rally with Bert Champagne, a friend who also lost his partner eight years ago. For Champagne, the day was an opportunity to celebrate that the next generation of LGBT people and their supporters will no longer be second-class citizens in the eyes of the federal government. Back when Prop 8 passed, Champagne said, he took to the streets with his 16-year-old niece in protest of the ban on same-sex marriage.

Could China’s growing influence in Hollywood affect Christian-themed movies?

“Christian-themed movies are generally shunned by the Chinese film authorities,” Robert Cain, a veteran producer and longtime liaison between Hollywood and China, told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “I doubt any of the studios would bother submitting them.” That would mean turning your back on the world’s second biggest box office, and potentially the biggest in coming years, which could be hard for many producers and studios to do. “As much as American filmmakers want their freedom of expression, it comes down to money. The film industry is a business, and with China set to be the number one in the film market in the near future, Hollywood needs to look out for themselves,” explained entertainment litigation attorney, Dr. Dariush Adli of Adli Law Group P.C.

To make up for them, the Hollywood City Commission is considering reducing the size requirements to squeeze as many into the available space as possible. Instead of a parallel parking space 8 1/2 wide by 18 feet long, the new spaces would be 8 1/2 wide by 16 feet long. “It’s an opportunity to save as many parking spaces as possible,” said Community Redevelopment Agency Director Jorge Camejo. “Preserving parking has been recognized as a top priority.” The parking issue, which will be taken up at 5 p.m.

Apatow called the NSA program “an outrageous breach of the privacy and rights of American citizens.” Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore delivered his unsurprisingly damning verdict, tweeting, “the administration has now lost all credibility.” He implied hypocrisy on the part of the president by highlighting a 2007 Obama quote: “that means no more illegal wiretapping of American citizens. No more (spying) on citizens…No more tracking citizens…” Some have welcomed Hollywood’s criticisms after what they say has been years of towing the line for the president. “I am encouraged to see the Hollywood left is starting to dish out some bipartisan criticism,” political blogger and author Thomas Moyer told FOX411 Pop Tarts column .

Hollywood director James Cameron urges boost in oceans research

“I’ll give you an example: Food prices rising because crop yields are down because ocean precipitation isn’t there. We need to look at the ocean as a driver to our economy.” As oceanic research funding is stretched thin, so, too, are the human resources involved in researching the vital ecosystems, Cameron said. American students finished 25th in math and 17th in science in recent studies comparing 31 countries, according to the National Math and Science Initiative.
